One of the first things that people ask us when they visit our school for the first time is how well do we do on testing. The simple answer is that we do very well. Our students consistently score above the nation, state, and district in nationally Normed-referenced tests, such as the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, that our students take. Our students do equally well on the criterion-referenced tests, such as the state end-of-year tests, ranking above the average of the district.

Besides the basics, we focus a lot on the arts. Our philosophy is that the through the arts our students will learn the curriculum better. Our school was one of only two schools in the district to win the prestigious Beverley Taylor Sorenson Elementary Arts Learning Grant. Basically, the grant allows us to hire a full-time teacher endorsed in an area of the arts curriculum.  Every year of the six years of Hobble Creek's existence, we have won a grant from the Utah Arts Council.

Our school is also a partner with Brigham Young University in the National Network for Educational Renewal. This means that our school is a training site for new teachers entering the teaching profession. BYU, in turn, trains our faculty in the latest educational developments
